Biography

Imani A. Boykin is the managing shareholder in the elder and disability law firm of Boykin Elder Law, P.A.  She earned her Juris Doctor at Florida Coastal School of Law in 2005 and worked for two federal judges in the United States District Court, Middle District for the 11th Circuit.  Shortly after, she opened her own firm where she initially had a diverse practice.  Ms. Boykin discovered her passion was working with the elderly and those who are most vulnerable and decided to shift the focus of her law firm to practice exclusively in the areas of elder law.  She graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 2016 where she received her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Elder Law, graduating with honors, and was awarded the Matthew Bender Award for Distinction in the Elder Law program.  

Ms. Boykin is uniquely qualified to serve her clients.  Not only is she an expert in Elder Law, she is also a former nurse and a military veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.  Prior to opening her law firm, she earned an M.B.A. in Business and Finance from SUNY at Buffalo and worked in Corporate America all over the world for two Fortune 500 companies gaining extensive experience for 16 years.

Ms. Boykin was recognized for her service to indigent clients by being awarded the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid Attorney of the Year Award (2016). She was recognized as a leader in the Jacksonville Legal community and was selected as Jacksonville Woman Lawyer of the Year (2016), the first African American woman to win the award. The Florida Association of Women Lawyers recognized Ms. Boykin as a Leader in the Law (2017).   She previously served The Florida Bar as a Committee Chair on the Probate Rules Committee and by chairing a Grievance Committee for the Fourth Judicial Circuit, a grand jury for attorney discipline.

Ms. Boykin is an active and proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.  She is a current faculty member and adjunct professor at Stetson University College of Law, teaching disability law to future Elder Law practitioners.   Ms. Boykin is a long-standing member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and is on the board of the directors for the Estate Planning Council of Northeast Florida.  In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
